COMFORT & FEEL

With a medium-firm feel, our Eco Organic Mattress is ideal for side sleepers, as well as back sleepers and stomach sleepers. It provides optimized pressure relief and contours to your body’s natural curves. It is slightly less firm than our Avocado Green Mattress. 100% ORGANIC CERTIFIED LATEX

We use 100% GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex (CU863637), which is also Rainforest Alliance and FSC® certified (C156318). We make our own GOLS certified organic latex from co-owned farmer's societies and processing facilities in India and Guatemala, operating under the USDA's National Organic Program. It's made with ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard. Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, requires no adhesives to seam it together, and is more durable than Talalay latex. It is processed in a GOLS organic certified facility in India that we also co-own. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses one seamless layer of organic latex — 2 inches in the comfort layer (D65 / 14-19 ILD, soft). Our organic latex also features certifications from Rainforest Alliance, eco-INSTITUT®, and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 (19.0.79546, Hohenstein HTTI).

100% GOTS ORGANIC CERTIFIED WOOL

The benefits of wool’s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as yet another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable — both warm and cool when you need it. It's natural crimp gives it bounce, body and soft support characteristics. And it’s also non-allergenic (ideal for those who suffer allergies to feather and down or synthetic bedding products) and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. At Avocado, we add a layer of pure, naturally crimped 100% GOTS certified organic wool (CU 863637) (1 ounce per square foot) under the 100% organic certified cotton ticking in every mattress. We do not blend any rayon, polyester or flame retarding chemicals with our wool. Our organic wool has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI) — which requires annual lab testing to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, to include banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides and dyes. 100% GOTS ORGANIC CERTIFIED COTTON

For a luxurious and premium finish, we use 100% GOTS certified organic cotton (CU863637) in a soft, natural color, for a luxurious and premium finish, over a generous layer of organic wool with thin non-woven backing as a natural fire barrier. We do not use polyester fiber. Responsibly and ethically sourced from India, Turkey, Canada and North Carolina, our organic cotton is a durable textile.We use rings to keep all the layers of the mattress in place without using toxic glues.

MADE IN L.A. INNERSPRINGS

We use up to 988 8" springs (in the California king). Made in Los Angeles in our own manufacturing facility, our border coils are a meaty 14.5 gauge and interior zone coils are 12 gauge. (Higher gauges mean a thinner coil. Thicker coils deliver greater durability.)

HELD TOGETHER WITH RINGS, NOT GLUE

Some companies use toxic chemical glues to bind their mattress layers together, which contributes to off-gassing and indoor air pollution. We do not. Instead, we use simple durable metal rings made from recycled steel to keep our mattress layers firmly in place.

NO FLAME RETARDANTS

No flame retardants of any kind are used. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses only 100% GOTS organic certified wool, which is naturally fire resistant. This wool has also been tested for harmful substances and meets STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI). Of course, as a MADE SAFE® Certified product, we do not use other chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks are used.

FIRMNESS RATING AND PERFORMANCE TESTING

On a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the firmest) our Eco Organic Mattress rates as a 5, which is gentle, yet firm. It's ideally suited for back and stomach sleepers, as well as lighter individuals and growing children — anyone in need of natural cushioning and medium-firm support.

CARBON NEGATIVE PRODUCTION AND SHIPPING

In 2019, Avocado Green became the first non-founding company to become Climate Neutral Certified, effectively making our business carbon neutral. A year later, we took it a step further by going carbon negative — offsetting more carbon emissions than the company generates. Avocado works with Climate Neutral to reduce its emissions, then we measure and voluntarily offset more than 100% of the rest, from resource extraction to shipping, by supporting carbon offset projects through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. Our offset projects help mitigate climate change and support innovation in addressing greenhouse gas emissions reductions. But we know offsets aren’t enough. That’s why we also advocate for legislation that will mitigate climate change and protect people and the planet.

PROJECT ZERO WASTE

We believe in a circular economy that accounts for the lifecycle of our products. That’s one reason we design our Eco Organic Mattress with natural, organic materials, which make it biodegradable. What’s more is that our GOTS certified factory, which we power entirely with renewable energy, is on its way toward a Zero-Waste certification, meaning we up-cycle or recycle nearly all of our waste. The effort is consistent with our mission to set a new bar in environmental and social responsibility.

NEW PAPER WRAP PACKAGING

Mattress ships in a convenient rectangular box. The Eco Organic Mattress is vacuum sealed in recyclable plastic, but will soon be wrapped and rolled in up-cycled paper — saving up to 30 feet of plastic per mattress! Paper can be recycled. This eco-friendly new process is entering production in April, 2022. LAW LABEL

A law label is a legally required tag or label on new mattresses that describes the interior filling materials. Few companies will share this information prior to your purchase because it separates fact from marketing hype. We believe differently. Here's what the legal tag on the Eco Organic Mattress actually says: Made in California with internal materials (based on weight) consisting of Latex Foam Rubber Pad (91%) and Wool Fiber (9%), plus a 100% Organic Cotton Cover. Note: NO polyurethane foams, NO memory foams, NO synthetic foams, NO latex blends, NO chemical adhesives between the comfort layers, and NO chemical flame retardants are used!
