We craft our Luxury Foundation in Avocado’s GOTS-certified organic facility in Los Angeles. Layers of 100% GOLS-certified organic coconut husk pads and plush 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, wool, and silk ensure unparalleled breathability and sustainability. A solid wood frame with more than 100 internal metal supports evenly distributes weight. Note that the foundation does not have feet.

Durable FSC Certified Poplar
Quality materials are built to last a lifetime. We use FSC-certified hardwoods that are strong and resilient for our foundations, generally sourced from Oregon. The FSC-certified sourcing helps to manage forests in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
Why Organic Matters
Conventional cotton is not a sustainable crop. Toxic pesticides and fertilizers used to grow cotton may runoff and contaminate our rivers, lakes, and aquifers, harming human health and biodiversity. Traditional cotton also causes soil erosion and destruction, and some experts say it requires more water than any other agricultural commodity. We believe in a better way. At Avocado, we only use GOTS-certified organic certified cotton, which uses up to 90 percent less water and is grown without pesticides. Our cotton is better for you, our farmers, and the planet.
Healthy, Safe, and Non-Toxic
We use two layers of GOTS-certified organic needle-punched wool in our Luxury Plush Foundation. The wool dampens any sounds or vibrations and adds comfort and support. While some companies use synthetic, potentially toxic flame retardants, we use renewable, organic wool. Wool, besides being breathable and thermoregulating, is a natural fire retardant. And our wool comes from our organic farms in the Himalayas.

SOLID WOOD
Hardwoods are stable, durable, and resilient; ours come from sustainably-managed sources. No particle board or MDF — just pure, solid wood.
GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON
For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certfied organic cotton canvas in a soft, natural color on the top and bottom panels. No polyester fiber is used. Responsibly and ethically sourced from India. Our organic cotton has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (15.HIN.75800, Hohenstein HTTI), to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, including banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes.
GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC WOOL
The benefits of wool’s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture and acts as another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable, non-allergenic, and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. At Avocado, we add two layers of pure, GOTS-certified organic needle-punched wool. We do not blend rayon, polyester, or flame retarding chemicals with our wool.
GOLS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC COCONUT HUSK PAD
We use a ½-inch layer of D80, GOLS-certified organic coconut husk pad, which adds breathable support, keeping the mattress — and you — cool.
METALS SUPPORTS
Internal metal supports provide even weight distribution to your mattress. Our metal supports are made in the USA from recycled steel that is melted and poured in Sterling, Illinois.
