Organic Crib Mattress
★★★★★ 4.5 | 99 Reviews
Our amazingly affordable Organic Crib Mattress is crafted with certified organic cotton, wool, and latex. So you can trust that it’s made with safe materials. It’s also practical. A dual-sided design — one for infants and one for toddlers — offers different firmness levels to support your child's growth for years. Handmade in Los Angeles with the best domestic and international materials, even from our farms!
Organic is Better
Organic cotton, wool, and latex are more durable, luxurious, and breathable. Synthetic fibers and cotton grown with pesticides can be stuffy, not to mention hazardous to your health and environmentally damaging. That’s why we use GOLS-certified organic latex and GOTS-certified organic wool and cotton. Each material is responsibly and sustainably harvested in India, exclusively for us, without pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. This is better for your child — and the planet.
Dual-Sided for Long-Lasting Use
We designed our Organic Crib Mattress with two levels of firmness. That means your little one will have the bed they need to support their growth for years. One side of the mattress is specifically made for infants, the other for toddlers. Our Organic Crib Mattress gives you peace of mind that you won’t have to worry about another mattress for your little one for years.
Made Safe
Our Avocado Organic Crib Mattress is certified to MADE SAFE® standards — a rigorous scientific process that screens for the use of ingredients that are known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems. Of course, the certification prohibits the use of flame retardants and fiberglass in the crib mattress.
Safe Emissions
You can trust that our Organic Crib Mattress is free from nasty materials that could impact your baby’s health. Our crib mattress is Formaldehyde-Free Claim Verified and GREENGUARD Gold certified for low emissions from UL. It’s also a GOTS-certified organic product, which means the entire supply chain of each material within the mattress has met the strictest standard for ecological and social responsibility.

GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC WOOL
The benefits of wool’s complex and natural physio-chemical structure are endless: it wicks away moisture, keeps your mattress smelling fresh, and acts as another all-natural fire barrier. It’s breathable — both warm and cool when you need it. Its natural crimp gives it bounce, body, and soft support characteristics. And it’s also non-allergenic (ideal for those who suffer allergies to feather and down or synthetic bedding products) and a renewable resource. No additives or synthetics are added to the wool. We add a layer of pure, naturally crimped GOTS-certified organic woolsurrounding the entire kid's mattress. We do not blend rayon, polyester, or flame retarding chemicals with our wool. Our organic wool has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification(19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI) — which requires annual lab testing to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, including banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes.
GOLSCERTIFIED ORGANIC LATEX
We use GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex (CU863637), which is also Rainforest Alliance and FSC® certified (C156318). We make our GOLS-certified organic latex from co-owned farmer's societies and processing facilities in India and Guatemala, operating under the USDA's National Organic Program. It's made with ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard. Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, requires no adhesives to seam it together, and is more durable than Talalay latex. It is processed in a GOLS organic certified facility in India that we also co-own. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses one seamless layer of organic latex — 1 inch in the comfort layer (D65 / 14-19 ILD, soft). Our organic latex also features certifications from Rainforest Alliance, eco-INSTITUT®, and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 (19.0.79546, Hohenstein HTTI).
GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON KNIT
For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton in a soft, natural color. Our organic cotton, which we use for a soft, breathable cover, is responsibly and sustainably harvested in India exclusively for us without pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Our organic cotton has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (15.HIN.75800, Hohenstein HTTI) to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, including banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes. Even the green thread used in the stitching and logo embroidery is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified (94.0.6007, Hohenstein HTTI). Reinforced edge seams are double-stitched.
INNERSPRING UNIT
We craft our 6-inch coils with recycled steel in our facility. Encased in a food-grade polypropylene fabric (non-woven and non-toxic), these premium springs float independently to improve airflow, support, and spinal alignment. This mattress should not be stored in an upright position when not in use.
NO FLAME RETARDANTS
No flame retardants of any kind are used. In its place, our Eco Organic Kids Mattress uses only GOTS-certified organic wool, which is naturally fire-resistant. This wool has also been tested for harmful substances and meets Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification(19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI). Of course, as a MADE SAFE® Certifiedproduct, we never use chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks.
CLIMATE NEUTRAL CERTIFIED
As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.
PROJECT ZERO WASTE
We're proud to be certified by UL Solutions for a landfill diversion rate of 85%. That means only 15% of our manufacturing waste ends up in the landfill — we upcycle or recycle the rest. Since we began Project Zero Waste in 2020, we've been a pioneer in the space, increasing our waste diversion rate by 33%. We are the first mattress and bedding company to achieve this. But we aren't done yet. Our goal is at least a 90% diversion rate. Read more about Project Zero Waste.
NEW PAPER WRAP PACKAGING
The mattress is delivered rolled and compressed in a rectangular box, vacuum-sealed in recyclable plastic. Avocado proudly pioneered using recyclable paper for our vacuum-sealed mattresses in the United States, reducing plastic usage by up to 30 feet per mattress. However, this innovative paper-wrapping technology is new and may occasionally necessitate system maintenance and downtime. Consequently, approximately 70% of our mattresses are currently wrapped in paper, while the remaining portion is shipped in plastic packaging.

LAW LABEL
A law label is a legally required tag or label on new mattresses describing interior filling materials. Few companies will share this information before your purchase because it separates fact from marketing hype. We believe differently. Here's what the legal tag on the standard Avocado Eco Organic Kids Mattress says: Made in California with internal materials (based on weight) consisting of Latex Foam Rubber Pad (91%) and Wool Fiber (9%), plus a 100% Organic Cotton Cover. Note: NO polyurethane foams, NO memory foams, NO synthetic foams, NO latex blends, NO chemical adhesives, NO vinyl, No Polyurethane, No PLU, and NO chemical flame retardants or synthetic fire barriers are used.
